But every night, he practices for two hours, throwing cards as fast as a high-speed train.

Cucumbers or the fruit towel gourd might look simple to cut because of their skins being crisp, but unlike other card-throwing ninjas, he can slash apples and watermelons just as easily.

Tongxin uses a six-and-a-half-feet frame on which he hangs cucumber-shaped bags to practice his throwing and slicing skills.

According to Tongxin, the cards he throws travel 50 meters in half a second, which means his plastic projectiles fly out of his hand at 360kilometres per hour.

His best performance to date is cutting a row of 12 cucumbers in 47.2 seconds, but his goal by the end of the year is to cut 18 cucumbers in under a minute to create a world record.
