I went out for a stroll as the clock struck 12 on January 1.
And I was impressed by the security arrangements made by the Mumbai police.

Constables were positioned at every nook and cranny of the city, police officers were doing rounds and RAF commandos were patrolling the beaches.
A few streets were brightly lit with floodlights.
The bandobast was brilliant. These arrangements have renewed my faith in the security system of our city.

Thanks to the police, Mumbai could usher in the New Year without any worry. They ensured that the city, which is still coping with the 26/11 terror attacks, has no more bitter memories.
While the police made sure Mumbaikars had a safe New Year's eve, they missed out on celebrations with their families and friends.
A special event should be organised for the Mumbai police so that they get to celebrate 2009 with equal vigour.
