Dreams and aspirations are all very well, but they need to be rooted in reality. We have read and heard about numerous cases where bogus agents and scamsters have conned people of their money, promising juicy jobs to them or their kin.
Recently, police booked two people for allegedly cheating a 60-year-old RTO agent from Thane of Rs 11 lakh by promising his son a government job. The accused allegedly showed a fake selection list and later failed to provide the job or return the money.
The Press Trust of India reported that after the money was given, in a familiar pattern, the accused failed to deliver on the promise.
In a separate incident, more than 130 job aspirants were allegedly cheated of Rs 52.68 lakh by a recruitment agency in Thane district after being promised overseas employment. The agency allegedly collected money and passports from candidates but there were no jobs.
Be healthily sceptical of such claims. People asking to pay up for jobs have to always be viewed through a suspicious lens. Go through the correct route for a job. Check and re-check websites, with others, any sources you have. Jobs are simply not obtained in this manner, insist that you will âpay' after you get the job. In fact, report these charlatans to the cops. In an online age, fraud like this has become even easier as there are a dime a dozen online opportunities floating by.
Ask these cons to put you in touch with âothers' they have helped. Ask for a specific address or site and telephone numbers. In fact, report these charlatans who ask for money for jobs. Shut this down and get them behind bars.
