In what may prompt the making of a Hollywood movie, a British bride got to the church on time for her wedding -- thanks to kind-hearted radio listeners.

According to the Daily Express, Heidi Kent appealed for help on her local radio station after nearly two feet of snow outside her house left her stranded and without a dress just 48 hours before her big day. Her call paid off when complete strangers turned up to clear her road, deliver her dress and ferry the wedding party to the church, the newspaper said.

Thirty-year-old Heidi, a nurse from Worksop, was quoted as saying, "We were snowed in and I couldn't move the car but my dress was in Sheffield. I didn't want to cancel it at the last minute so I decided to call the local radio station and ask for help."

Radio listeners besieged Hallam FM with offers of help for Heidi and bridegroom Alex Burrett, a 35-year-old import analyst. A garage and local drivers provided 4x4s to get them to church and a woman even offered to lend her wedding dress.

Heidi said: "The day may even have been better than I could have imagined. We thought we could have a white wedding but it was so beautiful to be surrounded by all that white. The snow can bring out the best in people."
