On May 16, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated that 'Operation Sindoor' is not yet complete, emphasizing that what has occurred so far was merely a âtrailer.' While addressing the Air Force at Bhuj Air Force station, he said, " We have kept Pakistan on probation. If its behaviour improves, then okay, otherwise, it will be given the strictest punishment. Operation Sindoor is not over yet. Whatever happened was just a trailer. When the right time comes, we will show the full picture to the world."
On May 7, the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). The operation resulted in the deaths of over 100 terrorists associated with groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and Hizbul Mujahideen (HM).
The operation was a response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 people and injured several others.
In retaliation, Pakistan carried out cross-border shelling across the Line of Control (LoC) and in Jammu and Kashmir, along with attempted drone strikes in border regions. India responded with a coordinated counter-attack, targeting and damaging radar systems, communication centres, and airfields at multiple Pakistani air bases.
By May 10, both countries reached an understanding to cease hostilities, bringing a temporary halt to the escalating conflict.
