> Organic salmon from Shetland, with samphire and sea kale, local vegetables and Irish soda bread.
> Slow-roasted shoulder of lamb from north Wales, Jersey Royal potatoes, wild mushrooms and mint sauce.

The group travelled from a reception hosted by the Queen at Buckingham Palace, where they were able to mingle in the hours before one of the most important world meetings in decades got underway.

As their partners dined next door at No 11, the leaders sat down at No 10 to enjoy a menu chosen by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver.

The meal featured the best of seasonal produce from around the UK.

Oliver said, "I'm very, very proud of my country and its food traditions and I know that the guests at Downing Street will be in for a real treat."

Taking over the Downing Street kitchens with him were eight current apprentices and recent graduates from his Fifteen restaurant.

Meanwhile, the dinner in the State Room at No 11 included Harry Potter author JK Rowling, Olympic gold medallist Dame Kelly Holmes, model Naomi Campbell, among the many celebrities from the worlds of fashion, sport, business and the arts.
