Woman says diplomat asked for 'sex on desk'

A woman has complained against a diplomat to an employment tribunal alleging that he wanted to have sexual intercourse with her over a desk.


A woman has complained against a diplomat to an employment tribunal alleging that he wanted to have sexual intercourse with her "over a desk".u00a0Dr Chuma Igbokwe is also accused of exposing himself to Vanessa Turley in his office at a private hospital.

Turley, who is married, said she was left "totally shocked" at the behaviour of Dr Igbokwe, who was the consul to Britain of the Republic of Niger in West Africa at the time.u00a0Dr Igbokwe, who has since stood down from his diplomatic post, is also the director of a group of private hospitals.

The alleged harassment took place in one of these, St Luke's in Ebbw Vale, south Wales, where Turley was an administrator.u00a0Turley, a mother of three, claimed that the 45-year-old thrust himself against her from behind, exposed himself and asked her to perform a sexual act on him.

She quit her job and started an unfair dismissal claim saying she had been sexually harassed and bullied by the married doctor.u00a0"He called me into his office, next to mine, and asked if the locks on the door could be overridden. I replied that I didn't think they could and he said: 'Because I want to ---- you over the desk', the Telegraph quoted her as telling the tribunal in Cardiff.

"I was left totally shocked and told him he should not say things of that nature as it was bad. My treatment after that was unbearable, each time he visited the hospital he was rude and very abrupt to me.u00a0"He held my hips from behind, thrusting himself against me and told me to sit down.

"I was scared. He sat in the chair and was fumbling with his trouser fly zip. He stood in front of me preventing me from moving, exposed himself and gestured for me to perform a sexual act on him. I pushed him aside and made haste to the door," she explained.

She also alleged that Dr Igbokwe would ask her to meet him at the Hilton Hotel in Newport.u00a0Dr Igbokwe is an executive director of Mild Professional Homes, which is run by the St Luke's group.u00a0The tribunal heard he had been suspended by the General Medical Council who are investigating other complaints of sexual harassment against him.u00a0
