The Earth Day commemorates a protest that saw millions of people taking to the streets against the negative impacts of 150 years of development and to show their love towards the environment. It was 50 years ago when US senator Gaylord Nelson decided that it was important that the environment makes some space onto national news and on the minds of the people. (Representational picture) 

And it took a lockdown due to the Coronavirus for the earth to heal itself. The lockdown in India has resulted in a significant improvement in air quality in the country, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) said earlier this month.
