Gateway of India- Mumbai
The iconic Gateway of India in Mumbai, the financial capital of the country, was deserted amid the 21-day nationwide lockdown imposed by the Central government. The lockdown saw local train services being shut for the first in the history of the city (Picture/Suresh KK)
India Gate- Delhi
The India Gate, located in the heart of the national capital, has been closed for visitors since the lockdown was announced on March 25. Delhi has seen a spike in positive cases recently
Statue of Liberty- New York
New York's Statue of Liberty, a symbol of the United States of America has seen a handful of visitors recently. But the city has become the epicentre of coronavirus cases in the country with 140,000 people infected so far and over 5,500 deaths
Eiffel Tower- Paris
The Eiffel Tower in Paris has been wearing a deserted look amid the nationwide lockdown. Paris and other cities in France have already closed public parks and gardens as part of the lockdown, people who wish to step out should carry a document justifying any excursion from the home.
Burj Khalifa- Dubai
The tallest building in the world, Burj Khalifa, was shut along with other famous hotels and sprawling malls in Dubai and other emirates with a lockdown in place. The United Arab Emirates has recorded more than 2,000 cases of the coronavirus, and 12 deaths. All citizens and residents other than those in essential services require a permit to leave their homes.
London Bridge- London
The majestic London bridge over the River Thame has been shut for the next seven months due to an ongoing roadworks project. But the UK has been going through a turbulent time to due the outbreak pf Covid-19 cases.
Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge- Sydney
With most Australians practicing social distancing, the popular Opera House and Harbour Bridge in Sydney has been having very less visitors. The country has recorded almost 6,000 confirmed Coronavirus cases.
Christ the Redeemer-Rio de Janeiro
A symbol of hope, the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, has seen less visitors since the outbreak of the pandemic in Brazil. The Latin American country has been hit hardest by coronavirus, with 553 deaths and more than 12,000 confirmed cases so far.
Forbidden City- Beijing
The Forbidden City in Beijing was closed after China was placed under 76-day lockdown to contain the spread of Coronavirus that orginated in Wuhan city in Hubei Province. With a dip reported in cases, the country has been limping by to normalcy with the lockdown being lifted on April 8, 2020.
Tokyo Tower- Tokyo
The Tokyo Tower in Japan's national capital had no visitors as Prime Minister Shinzo Abe declared a month-long state of emergency in Tokyo and six other prefectures because of a spike of infections in the country that has the world's oldest population.
Sagrada Familia Basilica- Barcelona
The under-construction yet popular Sagrada Familia Basilica that has scores of visitors, received none as Spain has recorded 14,555 fatalities and 146,690 infections since the outbreak.
The Colosseum- Rome
The ancient Colosseum in Italy's capital city has been empty after the country saw a deadly pandemic outbreak in recent times. Italy, which recorded its first death in late February, has had the most fatalities with 17,127, as well as 135,586 infections and 24,392 recoveries.
CN Tower- Toronto
The surroundings around the CN Tower in Toronto has had very less visiter as Canada witnessed 18,465 positive cases that left 402 people dead.
Victoria Peak- Hong Kong
With a lockdown in place, the Victoria Peak has not been having much visitors. Hong kong has reported 961 confirmed cases out of which 264 have recovered and four people died.
Times Square - New York
