Mexico's Vanessa Ponce de Leon won the coveted Miss World 2018 crown at a grand event held in the Chinese city Sanya. Vanessa Ponce de Leon, at backstage after winning the crown at the Sanya City Arena said, 'I can't believe it, I really can't believe it... And I think all the girls deserved it. I am proud to represent all of them. I will do as much as I can in the time I have got. Thank you so much, everyone.'
Vanessa Ponce de Leon smiled away with moist eyes as she folded her hands in gratitude to gesture the traditional Indian 'Namaste' greeting when Manushi Chhillar placed the elaborate crown on her head. Vanessa Ponce de Leon took a walk as the newly-crowned beauty queen, waving at the crowd and wrapped up the evening with a celebratory dance with co-contestants

Q: How would you use your influence as Miss World to help others?
A: Good night, everyone. I would use my position just the way I've been doing it for the past 3 years, being an example. We all can be an example of good in the world, we all have to care, we all have to love, we all have to be kind. It don't cost a thing. Helping is not that hard. We just really need the world to make a change. You just need to go there. There's always someone that'll need what you have to offer.
After her win, Vanessa Ponce de Leon admitted she was 'going through a process' as she adapted to people referring to her by her new title, rather than Miss Mexico
An adventurous soul, Vanessa Ponce de Leon has qualified as an open water scuba diver and also enjoys playing volleyball, painting and ultimate Frisbee, according to the official Miss World website
