Just a few days after making headlines for being one of the youngest debutants in Giles Shield, six-year-old Musheer Khan got a chance to interactu00a0 with former Test great Salim Durani at Azad Maidan yesterday.
Durani expressed his desire to meet the youngu00a0 inter-school cricket sensation after he starred in Anjuman-I-Islam Allana's (English) win over MD Bhatia (Ghatkopar) in au00a0 Giles Shield Elite Division second round tie at Cross Maidan yesterday.
All-rounder Musheer spun his team to victory by an innings an 274 runs. The left-arm spinner scalped seven wickets in the match.
Musheer's three-wicket haul in the first innings helped Anjuman bowl out MD Bhatia for 55 and enforce the follow on. He took four wickets in the second innings to bundle MD Bhatia out for a paltry 30 runs.
"After the Giles Shield match got over at Cross Maidan, I came to Azad Maidan for my regular practice. But when abba (Naushad) told me that Salim Durani wants to meet me, I was clueless.

It was only after my father told me that he was a great player in his days that I got to know about him. He gave me some valuable tips tou00a0 improve my bowling and I will surely incorporate his advice. His tips were relevant and helpful, as even he was a left-arm spinner," an excited Musheer told MiD DAY.
Meeting the youngster was like revisiting his old days for the 77-year-old cricketing great and ex-Anjuman student.
"I am in awe of Musheer. At six he is already a star and I'm sure that he will be the youngest player to play for the country someday. Such talent needs to be groomed as they are the future of the country.
I wish him all the best and hope he goes on to make a name for himself in the game," added Durani.
