Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh revealed that India executed a planned bowling strategy to neutralise West Indies captain Shai Hope, expressing satisfaction after the plan paid off in a 14-run victory in the third T20 International. The win on Sunday gave India a 2-1 series lead.

Arshdeep took three key wickets, playing a key role in restricting the opposition, specifically dismissing in-form opener Hope for 5 and Sherfane Rutherford for 32. He knocked over the stumps of both batters as India successfully defended a target of 223.

This bowling display proved crucial following the previous fixture in Ranchi, where Hope's century and Rutherford's blistering 84 powered West Indies to a record-breaking chase of 250.

"Before the match we had planned how to target Shai Hope, to keep things tight and execute that plan on the field; seeing the result feels great," said Arshdeep in a video posted by the BCCI.

"A lot of credit goes to coaches for walking us through the plan and highlighting what we could apply in the match. It was executed well, supported by brilliant bowling overall."

"Mayank kept the pressure building from the other end and all six bowlers chipped in. It feels good when there is a bit of pressure on execution … it is good fun," added Arshdeep.

Although Mayank Yadav went wicketless, his pace proved vital in haunting the WI chase, giving away only 34 runs across his four overs.

Arshdeep credits dressing room atmosphere for team's success

Arshdeep also praised the team's unity and positive dressing-room atmosphere for the team's success.

"The atmosphere in the dressing room is completely relaxed and chilled ... it is not like someone who has played more matches or fewer matches gets treated differently, and a very relaxed environment is maintained."

"And I try to see what I can learn from any bowler who has a different skill set, and there is always that willingness to learn and improve my game. I feel that as long as there is that hunger to learn, I will keep enhancing and refining my game, and that is my effort every time," he concluded.
