Australia's star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell and his wife, Vini Raman, welcomed their second child, a baby girl. The couple announced the birth of the girl on Tuesday and named her Maia Maxwell.

They shared the news by sharing a post on their official social media handles. "our dream girl is here, Maia Maxwell," read the post's caption.

The announcement was followed by congratulatory messages and good wishes from fellow cricketers, sports franchises and fans.

Maia is the couple's second child. Their firstborn, son Logan Maverick Maxwell, was born on September 11, 2023.

Glenn Maxwell's international career statistics

The star all-rounder has made 149 ODI appearances for Australia and has garnered 3990 runs. He also has four tons and 23 half-centuries to his name, with a top score of an unbeaten 201 runs. With the ball, he has 77 wickets to his name.

In the shortest format of the game, Maxwell has played 130 matches for the Aussies and scored 2897 runs. With a career-best score of an unbeaten 145 runs, he also has five centuries and 12 half-centuries in T20Is.

However, he has not played many Test matches. The right-handed batsman represented Australia in seven Test matches and managed to score 339 runs. With a top score of 104 runs, he has one century in the longest format of the game. Maxwell also has eight wickets in Test cricket.

Earlier, the 37-year-old cricketer announced his retirement from the One-Day Internationals (ODIs), but continues to feature in T20 Internationals (T20Is). He has not formally retired from Test cricket, though he is inactive in the format.

One of his career-defining knocks came during the ODI World Cup 2023, which was held in India. During the match against Afghanistan, Maxwell delivered a match-winning knock of an unbeaten 201 runs off just 128 deliveries, which was laced with 21 boundaries and 10 maximums. What made the innings so special was the fact that Maxwell was batting with severe cramps while batting. Additionally, the Aussies were on the verge of losing the match against the Afghans, but Maxwell's prolific knock saved the game for them.
