Former Mumbai and India captain Dilip Vengsarkar reckons the Cricket Club of India's (CCI) Brabourne Stadium - his favourite venue - is one of the best cricket grounds in the world.
Vengsarkar, a veteran of 116 Tests, was speaking after felicitating the CCI team for winning their fifth Dr HD Kanga Cricket League Division âA' title - their first in 35 years. "I always enjoyed playing here for Mumbai and West Zone because we won many matches at this ground. This was one of my favourite grounds because in the six first-class games I played here, I scored four hundreds," Vengsarkar said at a function on Sunday.
Vengsarkar explained why he enjoyed watching Test matches at Brabourne. "This is one of the best grounds in the world because the atmosphere during a full house is electrifying. Also, [as spectators] you are very close to the action. There is a new ground [Narendra Modi Stadium] in Ahmedabad, where 1,25,000 people can sit, but you need binoculars to see who's batting or who's bowling," Vengsarkar added.
