Indian women's team skipper Mithali Raj felt that the toss could play a vital role during the ICC ODI World Cup to be played in England from June 24 to July 23. After practising at Mumbai Cricket Association's Bandra-Kurla Complex Indoor Academy for a week, the team left for England on Sunday morning.
"It is an early summer in England and chances of rain are very high, so the toss is definitely going to play a very important role.
"We have to analyse the weather conditions before chalking out our game plan," said the skipper on the eve of the team's departure to the mega event. The senior-most player in the team also hinted at shuffling the batting order according to the conditions.
Though the Indian men's team are highly dependent on their pace attack and played only one spinner in the first two games of the ongoing Champions Trophy, the women's team will bank on their spinners.
"Honestly, everybody prefer to have extra fast bowlers in the side. Our fast bowlers have done well, but India have always banked on spinners, irrespective of the wicket. Whether we are playing in Australia or South Africa, spinners have done exceptionally well," said Mithali.
