Greater Noida: India Red's Abhinav Mukund was the only one with the willow to do something worth mentioning on Day One of the Duleep Trophy. Opting to bat first, Yuvraj Singh's side were dismissed for 161 in the first innings.

This however, had less to do with the pink colour of the ball, a green pitch and more to do with the poor shot selection by the batsmen. Mukund though had a different approach during his 116-ball knock of 77.

He looked calm and in control, especially, when it came to judging the deliveries outside the off-stump line.

The 12 boundaries he hit also suggested that he wasn't bogged down by Raina's bowlers who got wickets without sweating much in the sultry weather at least during the early part of the evening.

His dismissal by left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha, who bowled him as he attempted an airy shot suggested that it was a step he took likely because of the lack of support from other batsmen.

Brief scores
India Red 161 (A Mukund 77, A Singh 32; S Sharma 4-62, P Ojha 3-19, A Rajpoot 2-16 vs India Green 116-7 (S Raina 35, S Tiwary 27'; N Singh 3-32, K Yadav 3-26)
