Cavani will then reportedly sit down with PSG sporting director Leonardo and other club representatives to finalise the remaining details of the transfer before signing a five-year contract that will reportedly net him 10 million euros annually.
The transfer fee, thought to be worth around 63 million euros, would be a new Ligue 1 record, eclipsing the 60 million euro sum paid by Monaco for Colombian forward Radamel Falcao.
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis fired a parting shot on Sunday at Cavani, who topped the Serie A goalscoring charts with 29 goals last season, saying the striker "was thinking only of money".
He also claimed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic would not stay at Parc des Princes next season, saying: "Ibrahimovic won't play with Cavani, he has already been promised to others."
United may splurge
Meanwhile, Manchester United say there is sufficient cash in the kitty to allow new manager David Moyes to chase a "stellar player" before the new season, British media yesterday quoted chief executive Ed Woodward as saying.
According to Woodward, the English Premier League champions are "absolutely" able to compete for players in the £60million-£70million (90-105 million dollars) bracket.
"We haven't got money burning a hole in our pocket but we have got a strategy on player purchases and if David wants to go after a stellar player he can do that," Woodward said.u00a0
