I am fit and ready, says pacer who missed the first two Tests due to injury

England pacer Steve Finn, who sat out the first two Test matches against India due to injury, yesterday declared himself available for the third match beginning Wednesday at the Eden Gardens here.

"If I am needed on Wednesday, then I will be ready to go. I feel in good rhythm. I am in a good place," said Finn, who bowled six overs in two spells at the nets yesterday without discomfort.

Steve Finn bowls at the DY Patil Stadium in Nerul recently.

Finn, who has 66 wickets in 16 Test matches, suffered a thigh strain in the first warm-up game of the tour and there was concern he might miss the entire series. However, he recovered in time for the Kolkata test.

"If I am picked as part of a two-man seam attack, I might be used in a strike-bowling capacity. In the subcontinent you need to have a degree of patience and use your skills wisely," said Finn.

With fellow pacer Stuart Broad yet to get a wicket in the series and bowling coach David Saker describing his form as an "issue", Finn might find favour of the selectors in the upcoming match.

"India has a great batting line-up and to get the wicket of somebody you have admired as you grew would be quite a big thing," said Finn on his aspiration to get the prize wicket of batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar.
