Lukas Podolski had admitted that Germany's surprising 5-3 friendly defeat to Switzerland on Saturday hurts, as they step up their preparation for Euro 2012.

Eren Derdiyok bagged a hat-trick while Stephan Lichtsteiner and Admir Mehmedi also got their names on the scoresheet at St Jakob Park.

Mats Hummels, Andre Schurrle and Marco Reus struck for the Germans, but it was not to be for Joachim Low's men, and Podolski stated the team are now focussing on their next match.

"We have to be ready to take some criticism in the next days," he told Goal.com after the defeat. "Sure, such a loss hurts but we go forward. Switzerland have played very well and we're not yet where we want to be. We've got a lot of work to do."

Of the 27-man German squad, 25 were enjoying Formula One at the Monaco GP yesterday.u00a0
