Talking to SUNDAYu00a0MiD DAY from London, Gavaskar said, "So far, I am only a brand ambassador of Mumbai Masters but not the owner of the same."

Former India team manager Vankina Chamundeswaranath (better known as Chamundi), who is part owner of the team told SUNDAY MiD DAY, "We will make it happen when Gavaskar comes back from London.

A team like Mumbai Masters will definitely try to work with a legend like him." u00a0When SUNDAY MiD DAY reminded Chamundi about reports last month that Sachin Tendulkar was interested in buying Mumbai Masters, he said, "Tendulkar could not come on board because of lack of time."

Tendulkar's recommendation
He added: "It is only because of Tendulkar that we approached Gavaskar to become the brand ambassador. Tendulkar said ‘Gavaskar would be an ideal man to become the brand ambassador as he is been playing the game and will definitely help in guiding the team in the best possible manner.' "

Six city-based teams - Hyderabad, Pune, Lucknow, Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore - will be part of the IBL. The league will be held between August 14 and 31.u00a0
