The fifth and final T20I match between Team India and Australia was called off due to persistent rain at The Gabba in Brisbane.

Team India's Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill stayed unbeaten on the scores of 23 and 29 runs, respectively.

Later, Abhishek was adjudged the "Player of the Series" for his explosive approach throughout the five-match contest against the Aussies. Having featured in all the five matches, the left-hander had scored 163 runs.

Reflecting on his performance, the batsman said he was excited about the Australia series.

"I have been waiting for this tournament. When I got to know we're going to Australia for the T20Is, I was very excited," he said.

"Throughout my career, I've seen that Australia is very batting-friendly, and I wanted to prepare myself for these kinds of bowlers and conditions," added the left-handed batsman.

He also credited his captain, Suryakumar Yadav and head coach Gautam Gambhir for allowing him to express freely.

"If you want to play good cricket and do well for your team, you have to face world-class bowlers. I was practicing for these kinds of bowlers because that's how you improve as a player. The captain and coach have given me the clarity and confidence to just go and express myself. As a batter, when you're scoring 20s and 30s, you know you can go longer, but the clarity to set the momentum for the team has really helped me," said the 25-year-old cricketer.

When asked if he would make himself ready for the selection for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026, he said it would be a "dream come true" moment.

"It will be a dream come true if I get to play the World Cup. As a kid, I always dreamt of winning it for India. I will make sure I'm ready for that tournament," concluded the Amritsar-born cricketer.

After the conclusion of the Australia series, the "Men in Blue" will now engage in the Test and white-ball series against South Africa. The first Test match between India and South Africa will be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata from November 14.
