IND vs SA 1st ODI: Kuldeep Yadav's four-wicket haul helps India win by 17 runs

In the first ODI match against South Africa, Team India came victorious by 17 runs at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Jharkhand.

Having needed to chase a target of 350 runs, Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton opened the innings for South Africa. The side lost the early wicket of Rickelton on just one ball, whereas Markam, too, departed after scoring seven runs in 15 balls, with the help of a boundary.

Veteran batsman Quinton de Kock also registered a two-ball duck. Matthew Breetzke scored 72 runs in 80 balls, including eight boundaries and a maximum. Facing 35 balls, Tony de Zorzi accumulated 39 runs, which was laced with seven boundaries. Rising star Dewald Brevis garnered 37 runs in 28 balls, with the help of two boundaries and three maximums.

Marco Jansen delivered a crucial knock with the willow. He scored 70 runs in just 39 balls, and also smashed eight boundaries and three maximums. Prenelan Subrayen scored 17 runs in 16 balls, with the help of a boundary and a maximum.

Later, Corbin Bosch played a knock of 67 runs in 51 balls, which included five boundaries and four maximums. Nandre Burger accumulated 17 runs off 23 balls, including two boundaries. Ottniel Baartman stayed unbeaten without scoring any runs in six balls.

Bowling 10 overs each, Harshit was smashed for 65 runs, whereas Arshdeep gave away 64 runs. Prasidh Krishna, too, picked up one wicket by conceding 48 runs in 7.2 overs.

Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja went wicketless in the first ODI match against South Africa. Sundar bowled three overs and leaked 18 runs, and on the other hand, Jadeja was smashed for 66 runs in nine overs.

Earlier, Team India stalwart batsman Virat Kohli played a glorious knock of 135 runs off 120 deliveries. His knock was laced with 11 boundaries and seven maximums.

The side lost the early wicket of opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal on 18 runs in 16 balls. His knock included two boundaries and a maximum. Rohit Sharma accumulated 57 runs off 51 balls, with the help of five boundaries and three maximums. Skipper KL Rahul also departed after scoring 60 runs in 56 balls, with the help of two boundaries and three maximums. Ravindra Jadeja, too, managed to score 32 runs after facing 20 balls, and smashed two boundaries and a maximum.
