In the one-off women's Test match against England, Team India registered a historic win by a huge margin of 270 runs at the Lord's Cricket Ground in the City of Westminster.
Following the victory, Team India's cricketer Suryakumar Yadav shared a post on his official social media handle and heaped praise on the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team's achievement.
"Heartiest congratulations to the team. What a historic win for us. Wishing you the best for all your future milestones," read the post's caption.
Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) appointed Shreyas Iyer as India's new T20I captain by replacing Suryakumar. He was also dropped from the squad for the shortest format of the game, following his lean patch with the willow.
Under the leadership of Iyer, the "Men in Blue" suffered a 0-2 loss in the two-match T20I series against Ireland. They also suffered a loss by 0-4 in the five-match T20I series against England.
Currently, Team India is busy engaging in the three-match ODI series against the Englishmen. The first match is being played at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham.
The hosts have won the toss and elected to bat first against the Shubman Gill-led men.
Jasprit Bumrah, hailed as one of the stunning pacers of the current generation, was included in India's playing XI. Considering his workload management, Team India's think tank rested him during the five-match T20I series against England.
On the other hand, star batsman Virat Kohli has also been included in the playing XI of the first match of the series, which could be the Delhi-born cricketer's final series in England.
Having the likes of bigwigs Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Bumrah, it will be interesting to see if the visitors manage to dominate in England.
