Chances are slim that the South Africa bowlers will get respite from the punitive blade of Virender Sehwag in spite of his sore back. The Indian opener is not allowing the back problem bog him down and is quite positive about taking the field in the second one-dayer here today.
"Lagta hai mushkil nahin hoga (It doesn't look like it will be difficult)," Sehwag told MiD DAY when asked about his chances of playing.
Sehwag did not field during the entire South African innings in the first match in Jaipur on Sunday.
Sehwag batted in the nets yesterday and said he felt no discomfort. "I am feeling better. But, will be able to find out only when I get up on Wednesday morning," he said.
The Delhi dasher allayed fears that he had a serious back problem. "The MRI report is clear," said Sehwag. "I played two Tests and was fine. So it's not that it's happening quite often.
Recently, Sehwag rated Morne Morkel a better bowler than Dale Steyn. "What I meant was that I had some trouble handling Morkel. It's my personal experience and opinion. I did not say anything about who is better."
Asked why Steyn had lost his aggressiveness? "I believe we have handled him well. Maybe he's not in the best of form, but I would like to emphasise that we have played him better." Sehwag maintained that Glenn McGrath and Muttiah Muralitharan were the only two bowlers who could keep him in check. "I do believe that I can hit a boundary anytime against any bowler except McGrath and Murali," he said.
