Pat Cummins, captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad, has been fined Rs 12 lakh for maintaining a slow over rate during his team's IPL 2026 clash against the Gujarat Titans.
"As this was his team's first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL's Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Cummins was fined INR 12 lakh," the IPL said in a statement.
Gujarat Titans defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in a top-of-the-table clash as both in-form sides aimed to finish the night at the summit of the IPL standings.
Batting first, the Gujarat Titans got off to a shaky start, with captain Shubman Gill dismissed for five off seven balls. Wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler also departed early after scoring seven runs off 11 deliveries.
Sai Sudharsan, Washington Sundar lead recovery
Sai Sudharsan steadied the innings with a crucial 61 off 44 balls, including five boundaries and two sixes. Washington Sundar contributed 50 runs off 33 deliveries, hitting seven fours and a six.
Jason Holder and Rahul Tewatia remained unbeaten at the end of the innings. Holder scored 11 runs off 10 balls, while Tewatia hit a boundary off the only ball he faced.
Gujarat Titans posted 168/5 in their allotted 20 overs.
SRH collapse during run chase
Chasing 169, Sunrisers Hyderabad were bowled out for just 86 runs in 14.5 overs.
Impact substitute Travis Head was dismissed for a four-ball duck, while opener Abhishek Sharma managed only six runs.
Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan scored 11 off seven balls before being dismissed. Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy added 14 and two runs, respectively. Pat Cummins led a late fight back with 19 runs in 9 balls, but it was too little too late as SRH were thrashed by GT.
