In the IPL 2026 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Rajasthan Royals (RR) emerged victorious by 47 runs at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh.
After suffering a loss, SRH's skipper Pat Cummins said, "(What was it like with Sooryavanshi going crazy?) Yeah, he played pretty well. Yeah, just don't feel like you have too many options. Obviously, it's a really good pitch, but the margins are so small. If you miss your yorker by a little bit, he doesn't tend to miss them. So yeah, fair play. (Are there any regrets from choosing to chase?) Not really. It was a pretty good wicket even there at the end. (On unearthing young players) I think we end up as a really well-rounded team. Praful and Sakib were awesome. Young guys haven't played a lot. I think I saw a stat today, we're one of the youngest teams to make the playoffs or something this year, or ever, or something like that, which shows some of the talent that the coaching group have unearthed. So yeah, it's great as a captain seeing them go about it".
"(Did you think you can chase it at the halfway mark?) I think a few things still need to go right to chase down 240, but if there was ever going to be a pitch and a field to do it, it was this one. I think we stayed on the rate for most of the innings. We just kind of lost probably a couple too many wickets at the wrong time. So it was always going to be tough, but gave ourselves a decent chance. (Two playoffs in three years) Yeah, that's right. I think we were one tiny little bit away from being in the top two as well. So you can't ask for much more. The boys have been fantastic, their attitude all year, the way they've gone about it. It looks like they've really enjoyed their cricket, so I can't ask for any more," he added.
With an aim of chasing the target of 244 runs, the Sunrisers were bowled out for 196 runs in 19.2 overs.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan scored 33 runs in 11 balls, including three boundaries and the same number of maximums. Nitish Kumar Reddy also registered 38 runs off 20 balls, with the help of three boundaries and two maximums.
Impact Player Salil Arora accumulated 35 runs in his knock of 21 balls. He also smashed two boundaries and the same number of maximums. Facing 24 balls, Shivang Kumar also scored 27 runs, which included three boundaries.
Rajasthan's Jofra Archer returned with the figures of three wickets for 58 runs in four overs. Nandre Burger, Ravindra Jadeja, and Impact Player Sushant Mishra bagged two wickets each. Yash Punja also claimed one wicket. Brijesh Sharma went wicketless in the IPL 2026 match against Hyderabad.
Earlier, having been put to bat first, RR's opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 29 runs in 29 balls, including four boundaries. Fellow opening batsman Vaibhav Sooryavanshi garnered 97 runs off just 29 deliveries, laced with five boundaries and 12 maximums
Wicketkeeper-batsman Dhruv Jurel smashed 50 runs in 21 balls, with the help of five boundaries and three maximums

Dasun Shanaka was also dismissed on five runs in three balls, including a boundary. Donovan Ferreira registered 12 runs in nine balls, including a boundary. Facing five balls, Jofra Archer accumulated four runs, which included a boundary and Nandre Burger was dismissed for one run in one ball. With this, the Royals posted a total of 243 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs against the "Orange Army".
