When asked whether he was worried about Mumbai’s future after the team failed to qualify for the Ranji Trophy semi-finals, batting legend Sunil Gavaskar told SUNDAY MiD DAY: “I am never worried about Mumbai cricket’s future. It is the MCA (Mumbai Cricket Association) administrators who need to worry.”

Gavaskar, who made his commentary debut in first-class cricket in this game, said the Mumbai coach Sulakshan Kulkarni needs to analyse where they went wrong. "The coach and everyone will have to look into it where they failed," Gavaskar said.

The former Indian opener was highly impressed by Maharashtra's performance. "They thoroughly deserved to win this game. They made use of the conditions very well. They showed great determination in their batting (in the second innings)," the Little Master signed off.
