After submitting an unconditional apology to Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) president Ashish Shelar yesterday, batsman Suryakumar Yadav will now fly with the Mumbai team to Chennai to participate in Vijay Hazare one-day tournament.

Yadav was issued a showcause notice by the association recently after the cricketer retweeted a post by journalist and cricket consultant Dr Makarand Waingankar, who slammed Yadav's exclusion from the Mumbai team which participated in the Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy.

Yesterday, Yadav had to wait for more than 90 minutes until MCA managing committee meeting concluded their meeting at Wankhede Stadium's Cricket Centre. The Twitter controversy was high up on the agenda.

Yadav was eventually summoned to Shelar's cabin where he handed in his apology letter. It is learnt that the MCA president advised Yadav to concentrate on his batting and avoid controversy.

"I have been informed that he (Yadav) has submitted an unconditional apology and we (the selection committee) have included him in the Mumbai team now," senior selection committee chief Milind Rege told mid-day.

The Aditya Tare-led Mumbai team will leave for Chennai for the inter state one-day tournament that kicks off on Saturday when Ranji Trophy champions Gujarat lock horns with Mumbai.
