India's top-order batter Karun Nair has lauded wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant for setting a "very high standard" with his sheer grit after batting through a foot injury during the fourth Test against England at Old Trafford last month.

"I think Rishabh has set a very high standard of what we are supposed to be doing as players. In the fourth Test match, he went out to bat with a broken foot and scored a 50. He inspired so many of us in the dressing room and showed the kind of player and person he is by putting the team first," Nair, who made 205 runs in eight innings at an average of 25.62 in his comeback series, told Revsportz on Friday.

Nair also batted through pain after suffering a finger injury, scoring a crucial 57 and 17 in the first and second innings of the fifth Test at the Oval.

Talking about his approach in the final match, Nair said, "So, that [Pant's attitude] really made an impact on me, and that made it easy to decide what I needed to do for the team."
