While Bangladesh's new ODI cap was no surprise, with seamer Robiul Islam picked on the back of his 15 wickets in the two-Test series, Zimbabwe's debutant was the Pakistani-born batsman Sikander Raza Butt.

The hosts also brought in Tinashe Panyangara, Tendai Chatara, Sean Williams and Prosper Utseya from the pool of players not used in the Tests, while Abdur Razzak featured for Bangladesh.

Fast bowler Kyle Jarvis was rested by Zimbabwe after losing form in the second Test in Harare, which Bangladesh won to earn a share of the series.
