West Indies captain Chris Gayle has bemoaned his side's poor batting, and the spate of injuries that has robbed him of several key players in the home series against South Africa, which ended yesterday.

The South Africans wrapped up a 2-0 Test series win, with a seven-wicket victory in the third and final Test at Kensington Oval.

This followed a clean sweep of the two Twenty20 Internationals, as well as the five One-day Internationals that preceded the Tests. "When I looked at some of the dismissals throughout the series, it was actually errors from some of the batters," he said. "We can take a leaf out of the South African book by the way they go about their cricket and their discipline."

He added: "When I say discipline, I mean they showed the application out there in the middle. We need more of that. We do it, but inconsistently. We also had a lot of injuries as a couple of senior players were out, and hopefully we can get everybody fully fit soon."
