Team India's star pacer Mohammed Siraj has been provided rest as a part of his workload management, with Prasidh Krishna named as a replacement for the Ireland and England tours, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said on Tuesday.

The BCCI described the move as a "precautionary measure" to ensure his quick recovery ahead of the long international season.

Earlier, Siraj was named in the squads for the Ireland and England series, which consists of two and five T20I matches, respectively. He was not picked for the Asian Games in Japan.

"Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been withdrawn from India's squads for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and England," the BCCI said in a statement.

"Following discussions between the BCCI Medical Team and the Team Management, Siraj has been advised a period of rest as part of his workload management programme. The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure adequate recovery ahead of a long international season. The Men's Selection Committee has named Prasidh Krishna as Siraj's replacement for both T20I series," the release added.

Siraj's latest appearance came during the one-off Test match against Afghanistan. Team India secured a dominating victory by an innings and 300 runs at the Maharaja Singh PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh.

Both teams will now engage in a three-match ODI series, which is all set to kick off from June 13, with the first game scheduled to be played at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala. The second ODI match between the teams will be played on June 17 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium B Ground in Lucknow, followed by the third game on June 20 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
