Sachin Tendulkar's hamstring injury is surely not just a prick in the wall for India considering Mahendra Singh Dhoni's men are now only three one-day internationals from their 2011 World Cup campaign.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India's extraordinarily brief press release does not mention how severe the injury is. Nor does it say that Tendulkar's non-participation in the remainder of the series is a precautionary measure.

"Sachin Tendulkar will not take further part in the ongoing ODI series against SA due to a hamstring injury.

Parthiv Patel is being flown to SA as his replacement," is what the release says. The Board's ways of providing as little as possible to the media was expected. Wonder whether N Srinivasan, BCCI secretary gets to see what Cricket Australia provides the media when a player gets injured. Apart from a detailed news update, it quotes the team physio and also the injured player. No such thing in the case of the BCCI, even if the injury concerns India's most treasured cricketing commodity.
