Naik, who is also the Wankhede Stadium curator, will occupy the post after Sandeep Patil resigned in April.u00a0
The committee will consist of former India pacer Karsan Ghavri (39 Tests and 19 ODIs), Deepak Jadhav and Raju Sutar. Ghavri, though is not keen to take up the responsibility.
"I received a call from Mr Ghavri and he has made himself unavailable due to prior commitments as the BCCI academy (bowling) coach. We will have a discussion and he might be replaced with Paras Mhambrey," Dr PV Shetty, MCA's joint secretary, told MiD DAY.
When contacted, Mhambrey who is a member of the Mumbai Indians support staff, said: "I will be available. I haven't got any communication from the MCA on this so far."u00a0However, these appointments haven't gone down well with a few managing committee members and they are likely to raise an objection in the next meeting. Nadeem Memon was quite vocal in his displeasure.
"We had a lengthy discussion with the president (Ravi Savant) a few days ago. It was decided that Ghavri would be chairman of the senior selection committee. Either Mhambrey or Naik could be included in the committee as the fourth member. u00a0"This is a complete eyewash. It is shocking that they made Naik the chairman when the fact is that Ghavri has played more cricket for the country than him.
We will raise an objection in the next managing committee meeting (to be held at end of this month)," said Memon. u00a0Meanwhile, MCA managing committee member Deepak Patil was appointed coach of the U-14 team. Former Mumbai Ranji Trophy wicketkeeper Vinayak Samant was appointed coach of the U-25 team, replacing veteran Vilas Godbole, who helped them win three titles in four years. Godbole has been given the responsibility of being a coach at the BKC indoor academy. u00a0
