Warne hasn't lost it: Victoria coach Greg Shipperd

Victoria and Melbourne Stars coach Greg Shipperd says Shane Warne is still Australia's best spin bowler.

Shipperd's assessment came after an intimate view of Warne's first attempt to prove his fitness for the Big Bash opener against the Sydney Thunder on Saturday.

The Herald Sun quoted Shipperd, as saying: "He's a remarkable bowler and he would still be the best spinner in Australia of the wrist-spin variety, if not all spin."

He added: "He's a master of what he does. His variety, his knowledge of where he wants to put the ball and his strategy is probably his biggest weapon. He understands batsmen. He knows how to restrict and he knows how to take wickets."

Shipperd said that he was hopeful about Warne recovering from his hand injury.
