At the break, Rahul Dravid was batting on nine and Sachin Tendulkar 16.

India got off to a flier as Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir rattled up 73 runs by the 16th over before the former got out, caught behind off Iain O'Brien for 48 off 51 balls, hitting one six and seven fours.

Gambhir fell in the next over, leg before to James Franklin for 23.
