Former Indian women's team off-spinner and ex-Mumbai selector Arundhati Ghosh is gearing up for a fresh start after being appointed by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) as the Women's Tournament Coordinator on Wednesday.

Ghosh, who represented the country in eight Tests and 11 ODIs between 1984 and 1986, will oversee the planning and conduct of all Mumbai women's tournaments, leagues, selection trials, camps and developmental initiatives. Ghosh plans to focus on the grassroot level.

"We need to concentrate on the grassroot level, the U-15 and U-17 age groups. If we develop these girls properly, automatically when they progress to the U-19 and senior level, they will perform well and we'll get good results and hopefully, get players to represent India as well," Ghosh, who has previously served Mumbai cricket as selector of the senior women's team for eight years (2010 to 2019), told mid-day on Wednesday.

"I always like to work with players and this is a good opportunity to work with them as a mentor. I can share my experiences and motivate the girls," added Ghosh.
