In the Women's T20 Asia Cup 2026 match against Bangladesh, Team India emerged victorious by 40 runs at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates.
With this, the "Women in Blue" have sealed their place in the final. During the semi-final, the Indians dropped as many as four chances against Bangladesh.
Despite multiple dropped catches, star all-rounder Deepti Sharma defended Team India by saying that the side has been doing well. She also added that her team is ready for the title clash.
"As a team in fielding, we have been doing good (work in training). We are doing practice sessions taking, you know, a number of catches as well as fielding also," she said.
"I think that it will be a day here or a day there, it happens. But we are always up for the finals as a team in all three departments," added Deepti.
She then said that the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team will not take any team lightly in the final, be it Sri Lanka or Pakistan.
"After this game, we'll sit together tomorrow and that will help us to do more (about) strategy towards the finals," said the 29-year-old cricketer.
"Our team doesn't take any team lightly. Doesn't matter, like maybe Sri Lanka, Pakistan, whoever comes in the final. We always think as a team how we can do better in each and every game. As a collective team performance, how can we do better," added Deepti.
In the match against Bangladesh, Deepti accumulated 13 runs in six balls, with the help of a boundary and a maximum, whereas she also bagged three wickets by conceding 26 runs in four overs.
The semi-final 2 will be played between Sri Lanka and Pakistan on Friday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates. The winner of this clash will seal a place in the final against Team India.
The title clash of the Women's T20 Asia Cup 2026 is scheduled to be played on September 13 at the same venue.
