Nayar's former teammate Zaheer gave the academy a thumbs up. "Abhishek always came up with new thoughts and ideas. I am confident that he will impart knowledge and share his experiences with these kids," said Zaheer, who recently announced his retirement from international cricket.

During a week-long selection process, ISA selected 40 players in the 14 to 19 age group. "It's always been my passion to help people, not necessarily coaching. Coaching is just a part of it," 30-year-old Nayar said.

Speaking on the objective of his academy, Nayar said: "A lot of cricketers dream of playing for India. Not everyone can play for India, but I want to make sure that some of them are good enough to play club cricket at the highest level, get a job and live a comfortable life. That is my intention."
