After the rain-interrupted match between India and Pakistan, another match was held at Premadasa Stadium in Colombo with a reserve day. Pakistan won the toss and elected to bowl first. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill opened the innings for India and both made a partnership of 121 runs with Rohit Sharma scoring 56 runs off 49 balls and Shubman Gill scoring 58 off 52 balls

The match was stopped due to weather conditions and resumed on September 11. Till the second day, Pakistan bowlers were successful in taking Rohit's and Shubman's wickets. With Virat Kohli and KL Rahul on strike, the match continued on a reserved day

By picking wickets of Indian openers, Pakistan's bowlers thought the game would get easy for them. But Virat Kohli and KL Rahul had some other plans: They both registered Asia Cup's highest-ever partnership of 233 runs in 194 balls. Virat Kohli smashed unbeaten 122 runs off 94 deliveries and KL Rahul scored unbeaten 111 runs off 106 balls

Indian batters displayed extraordinary batting against Pakistan, now the game was in the hands of Indian bowlers. Kuldeep Yadav returning to the team after so long bowled his magical spell against Pakistan. He took 5 wickets including the wickets of Fakhar Zaman, Salman Agha, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan and Faheem Ashraf

With Kuldeep leading the Indian spin department even the Indian pacers didn't take a step back. Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Shardul Thakur took the important wickets of Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan respectively
