Portugal football star Cristiano Ronaldo attracted criticism for posting a picture alongside a friend with an uncanny caption that seemd to have a racist undertone.
The Real Madrid forward, who is currently enjoying a holiday after finishing his duties at the Confederations Cup with the national team, uploaded a picture this picture standing with a friend near a swimming pool. He captioned the picture, "Perfect Match Black And White chocolate".
Social media went into overdrive with some deeming it to be a racist and offensive comment. One Twitter user called Ronaldo, 32, 'a racist pig' Another user warned the footballer: "Cristiano you might get some hate for this caption for some reason, people are sensitive. So just be aware." Ronaldo missed the third-place match in Russia to spend time with his twins Eva and Mateo.
