Lyon: Cristiano Ronaldo's goal against Wales in the Euro 2016 semi-final on Wednesday was his ninth goal in all European Championships. He thereby equalled French legend Michel Platini's record of most goals scored in the championships.

Platini struck his nine goals in just five matches at the 1984 European Championships, while it has taken the Portuguese star 20 matches (which is also a record) to achieve his mark.

The Real Madrid ace can now go past Platini if he scores in Sunday's Euro 2016 final at Saint-Denis.
