Regular skipper Wayne Rooney didn't travel to Vilnius after being sidelined by an ankle injury for Friday's 2-0 win over Estonia while Chelsea's Gary Cahill, who deputised, has been rested by manager Roy Hodgson. Jagielka will be earning his 37th cap today.

"I'm pleased Roy came to find me to break the news that I'll be captain. Hopefully we can get the 10th win to finish off in style," said Jagielka as England look to complete a perfect qualifying campaign.
