France coach Didier Deschamps is not dwelling on past successes, insisting Les Bleus will look to create a new legacy as one of the favourites at the upcoming FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico, which begins on June 11.

"Nothing beats being a world champion. What happened in 1998 and 2018 will always stay with me, but what matters now is what we do next," said Deschamps, who is one of only three men to win the World Cup both as a player (1998) and a coach (2018).

Having won in 2018 and reached the final in 2022, Deschamps warned that reputation alone will not yield triumph. "We've built up expectations because of our results. We're one of 10-12 nations that can realistically dream of becoming world champ. But there'll be only one winner. [What we've achieved before] is history. This is a new chapter," added Deschamps.
