Forwards win you games, defenders win you championships. Arsenal provided the perfect example for this adage. Manager Mikel Arteta's men conceded only 26 goals from 37 games (19 clean sheets), seven less than their nearest competitor Man City. Goalkeeper David Raya and the centre-back duo of Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba were instrumental in locking down opposition attackers. Manchester City (2018-19) are the only EPL champions in the last decade to have conceded fewer goals (22).

Prior to winning the title, Arsenal finished runners-up in the last three seasons. They often began their campaign in fine fettle only to lose steam in the second half of the season as injuries piled up. This season though, they invested heavily in bolstering their squad depth with the likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Eberechi Eze, Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapie coming in. Not only did they perform at a high level, but also helped Arsenal contend with injuries to key players like Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz, and Ben White across the season.

No EPL team has utilised set-pieces as a viable attacking strategy as much as Arsenal this season. The Gunners scored a whopping 35 of their 69 goals from set-pieces. Only Real Madrid (38 in 2012-13) and Atletico Madrid (37 in 2014-15) have scored more goals from set-pieces in a league since 2011.
