Liverpool's 2005 Champions League-winning Spanish footballer Luis Garcia, who was part of the Indian Super League title-winning side in 2014, is all set to return to India as part of the Standard Chartered LFC World event in Mumbai (December 8-10) alongwith former Liverpool players Robbie Fowler, Vladimir Smicer and Sami Hyppia. In an interview with mid-day, Garcia talks about Liverpool's current position and a possible return to the ISL next season.
Excerpts:

Luis Garcia

On Liverpool's current form
Despite a few bad results, the team looks strong enough to fight for every competition. We have to be realistic. At this point, the EPL looks very difficult, but the Champions League is an open competition and it's not always the best teams on paper that get the prize.

On manager Jurgen Klopp
Klopp has a great connection with the players and fans. His ability to make players perform at 100% makes him the right man for the job.

On Indian Super League-4
I saw the first game last weekend and have been following the new competition since the decision was made to make it longer. It's the time to take the next step and I'm sure the Indian players will shine. Though I didn't go back to the Indian Super League for a second year, as I wasn't too sure then if the league would be as good as the first edition, since then I have heard a lot of positive feedback about ISL-2. I don't think I will ever close any doors or rule out a return to the ISL in future.
