Academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo was Manchester United's saviour on the night, with his 77th-minute goal from the edge of the box helping them beat Liverpool 3-2 in an English Premier League clash here on Sunday.
Matheus Cunha gave United an early lead (6th min), capitalising on a rebound off a Liverpool defender with his shot ultimately finding the back of the net via a big deflection. Sesko doubled their advantage eight minutes later, bundling the ball home after Liverpool custodian Freddie Woodman got his fingertips on the end of Bruno Fernandes's headed pass across the six-yard box. However, Liverpool found their footing after the break, with Dominik Szoboszlai intercepting an errant pass from Amad Diallo and scoring after a sensational solo run in the 47th minute.
Gakpo scored the equaliser for the Reds (56th min), after another errant pass, this time from United goalkeeper Senne Lammens.
