London: Think of Omar Sharif and the sights that spring to mind are of the actor riding a camel through the desert in ‘Lawrence of Arabia' or tramping through the snow of a Russian winter in ‘Dr Zhivago'.

But while his connection with the northeast coastal English town of Hull is not yet the stuff of a Hollywood epic, that didn't stop the 82-year-old flying in from his Paris home to cheer on Hull City in their FA Cup final against Arsenal at London's Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

Sharif was introduced to the club by Tom Courtenay, one of his co-stars in ‘Dr Zhivago' when he shared a London flat with the English acting great in the 1960s.
