Ronaldo’s Portugal eye fresh start against Wales

Cristiano Ronaldo will lead Portugal in their first encounter since their painful exit from the FIFA World Cup, when they take on Wales in the UEFA Nations League at the Estadio Jose Alvalade here on Wednesday.

Ronaldo, 41, who was in tears after their campaign-ending 0-1 loss to Spain at the global showpiece event, will be keen to turn a fresh page tonight as the reigning champs begin their title defence.

This will also be the first game at the helm for manager Jorge Jesus, who replaced Roberto Martinez after the World Cup.
