Real Madrid extend Brazil's star footballer Vinicius Junior's contract until 2032

Brazil's star footballer Vinicius Junior has agreed to a contract extension with Real Madrid till 2032.

Earlier, he had entered the final year of his contract, and rumours suggested that he had drawn interest from the English Premier League (EPL) champion Arsenal.

"Vinicius Jr has become one of the most important players in one of the most successful periods in our history," said the club in its announcement. However, the financial terms of the extension were not disclosed.

He joined the Spanish powerhouse at the age of 18 and since then has registered 128 goals in 375 matches. Vinicius has also helped Real Madrid win 14 titles, which include three La Liga titles and two Champions League titles.

In the concluded FIFA World Cup 2026, he delivered decent performances for his national team.

On his contract extension with Real Madrid, the star Brazilian took to his official social media handle and shared a story. "Eight years at the Bernabeu are too few ... 6 more years, and forever!," read the story.

The club entered the 2026-27 season under the coaching of Jose Mourinho. Los Blancos have not won a major title in two years, despite having the likes of Kylian Mbappe. In the previous season, the club went through the coaching stint of two coaches, Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa.

The record 15-time European Cup winners have seen Paris Saint-Germain win consecutive Champions League titles. Madrid has finished runner-up to fierce rival Barcelona for the La Liga title in the past two seasons.

Real Madrid signs Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande

Earlier on Thursday, Real Madrid reached a deal with Leipzig for the transfer of young Ivory Coast international Yan Diomande. The 19-year-old forward joined on a seven-year contract.

Los Blancos said in a statement that Diomande has signed a seven-year contract, valid until June 30, 2033.

Diomande spent one season in the German top flight with Leipzig following a switch from Spanish side Leganes in 2025. He was the Bundesliga young player of the season, netting 12 goals and laying on eight assists.
